Type A (front protection) trousers are suitable for fully trained chainsaw operators working on the ground.
Type C (all round protection) are recommended for all other chainsaw users.

However, where wearing Type C is impractical (e.g. because of the higher risk of heat stress associated with it), it may be appropriate to use Type A, where justified by risk assessment.”
